Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 | Review

Tempo di lettura: 4 minuti

The bull has always been associated with the concepts of pure and uncontrolled vigour, the same innate elements that characterise every Lamborghini’s car, bold and intimidating. The Huracán LP 610-4 does share her sister’s DNA, she does not fail Sant’Agata’s Bull’s philosophy. On the contrary, she shows genetic elegance matched with untamed power; all things that make her extraordinarily fascinating.

Sharp like an arrow

Aesthetically speaking, the Huracán is unique: sharp lines and sculpturally shaped, as Lamborghini’s tradition demands. Dimensions enhance the contrast between clear-cut curves, sharp edges and geometric surfaces as well as her dynamic and cuneiform body: built on a 2.620 mm wheelbase, she is 4.459 mm long, 1.924 mm wide and 1.165 mm tall. Even at night, the Huracán is an unmistakable car: LED technology is used on a supercar for the very first time (save trunk, storage and doors lights).

Not only did they refine her “skin”, but also what’s under it. In fact, its frame is a hybrid entity that matches carbon fibre and aluminium components. The Huracán dry weight is just 1.422 kilograms thanks to its super-light shell and, given its excellent rigidity, she possesses the typical driving precision of a supercar.

The driver and the passenger benefits from a greater visibility and find themselves in a wider space if, for examples, we compare the Huracán to the Gallardo. An innovative dashboard is the dominant element of the cabin. The instrument panel is displayed on a 12,3 thumb screen and can be configured in many different ways and provides the drives with all the necessary information. The interiors are made with fine materials and can be fully personalised; the attention to details guarantees a unprecedented perception of their quality. Curiously, the position of the button that activates direction indicators is placed on the wheel in a motorcyclist style.

The Bull’s heart

When it comes to Lamborghini, as any car-lover would say, the engine is the most interesting element of the vehicle. The Huracán is equipped with a V10 which takes its phenomenal propelling power from a 5.2 litres cubic capacity. It delivers 499 Kw/610 Cv power at 8.250 RPM and maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6.500 RPM. The new “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” (IDS) combines direct and indirect fuel ignition taking the value of both power and torque to a higher level if compared with the previous model, yet matching them with lower rate of consumes and emissions. Thanks to the fact that her 2,33 weight/power ratio, the hair of the Gallardo is capable of incredible performances. It can reach the top speded of 325 km/h and even go beyond it; moreover, and its acceleration values are simply superb: from 0 to 100 Km/h in 2,3 s and from 0 to 200 in 9,9 s. It is possible to choose between three different driving-modes (STRADA, SPORT and CORSA) which were designed to adapt the driving to different conditions of the terrain and can be activated by simply pressing a button placed on the wheel. This system is called ANIMA (the acronym for Adaptive Network Intelligent Management, which also is the Italian word for “soul”) and it involves the engine, the gearshift, the AWD, ESC electronic controls, active steering-wheel and adaptive suspensions.

The power generated by the 10 cylinders is unleashed by the new 7-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive with electrohydraulic multi-plate clutch transmission.

The propeller gives to the Huracán exuberance, a unique sound enriched by “popping” and “backfire” effects, ease of use and unexpected versatility: from a Lamborghini, you may expect everything but the possibility to drive smoothly in the city. In STRADA mode, in fact, her capability to “absorb” asperities is quite good for a supercar and the driving is made easier by the possibility of elevating her nose by few millimetres (like the Gallardo) when there are bumps on the road. Finally, thanks to the front and back sensors and thanks to the back-camera, parking is an easy game.

In SPORT mode, it is all about the fun. A light drifting is granted and a “dirty driving” gives its best here; while in CORSA mode, the Huracán seems to get even more aerodynamic and everything is about pure performance. Thanks to its new transmission system, the classic “gunshot” effect that comes with every shift at rev limiter reaches new levels of involvement, certainly satisfying the most demanding clients.

In every driving mode, the Huracán races down the road yet making the driver feel completely safe thanks to her powerful hydraulic dual-circuit brake system with vacuum brake servo unit. The precision of the gearshift is linked to the power-cut linked to the release of the gas pedal that grants a weight transfer on the front, a solution that comes from the car race world.

Since the very first time someone sits in a Huracán, they feel perfectly at ease, ready to push the accelerator pedal and comforted by her response. Performances lead to “addiction” and, despite the precision and composure of the vehicle, it is impossible to feel bored: on the contrary, everyone would just want to reach “the limit”.

Prices and competitors: everything boils down to pure passion

Lamborghini Huracan 5

The Lamborghini Huracán offers the highest comfort and performances at the price of 169.500 euros, tax included. The car we tried was coloured with a marvellous and unique Blue Caelum, a colour that comes with the Ad Persona option, one of the many personalization choices offered by Lamborghini. More specifically, our Huracán LP 610-4 costs 202.850 euros (Italian price, tax included).

Aston Martin V12, Porsche 911, Audi R8, Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 650S: when it comes to supercars the competition is fierce. However, buying a Lamborghini is a hart choice and who decide to marry the Bull does not even consider its competitors.
